And based on the above tradition of the Prophet(PBUH&amp;HF) the<br \/>\n\tProphet has declared war on Muawiyah. Furthermore,<br \/>\n\the did force\/make everybody to curse Ali (AS). To prove it, we begin with<br \/>\n\tSahih Muslim:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Narrated Sa&#39;d Ibn Abi Waqqas:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Muawiyah, the son of Abu Sufyan, give order to Sa&#39;d, and told him:<br \/>\n\t&quot;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">What prevents you that you are refraining from cursing Abu Turab<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">(nickname of Ali)?&quot; Sa&#39;d replied: &quot;Don&#39;t you remember that the Prophet<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">said three things about (the virtue of) Ali? So I will never curse<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ali.&quot;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni reference: <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Sahih Muslim, Chapter of Virtues of Companions, Section of<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Virtues of Ali, Arabic, v4, p1871, Tradition #32.<\/span><br \/>\n\tThe above tradition, by the way, indicates that Muawiyah was surprised why<br \/>\n\tSa&#39;d does not follow his order of cursing Ali, like others do. This shows<br \/>\n\tthat cursing Ali was a habit (Sunnah) for people at that time. Who made<br \/>\n\tthis Sunnah? Was it Ali, or those who fought him? Now, who fought against<br \/>\n\tAli? Wasn&#39;t he Muawiyah (the beloved companion of Wahhabis)? So this<br \/>\n\timplies that Muawiyah did innovate that habit (cursing Ali as Sunnah).<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Below is more references in Sahih Muslim about Sunnah cursing Imam Ali<br \/>\n\t(AS), to prove that people were urged\/forced to curse Ali in public,<br \/>\n\totherwise they would face a costly sentence. It is narrated on the<br \/>\n\tauthority of Abu Hazim that:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">The Governor of Medina who was one of the members of the house of<br \/>\n\tMarwan called Sahl Ibn Sa&#39;d, and ordered him to curse Ali. But Sahl<br \/>\n\trefused to do so. The governor said: &quot;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">If you don&#39;t want to curse Ali,<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">just say God curse Abu Turab (the nickname of Ali).&quot; Sahl said: &quot;Ali<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">did not like any name for himself better than Abu Turab, and Ali used<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to become very happy when somebody would call him Abu Turab<\/span>.&quot;<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni reference: Sahih Muslim, <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Chapter of Virtues of Companions, Section of<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Virtues of Ali, Arabic version, v4, p1874, Tradition #38.<\/span><br \/>\n\tCursing Imam Ali (AS) was an order from the beginning of Muawiyah&#39;s reign<br \/>\n\tfor 65 years. He was Umar Ibn Abdil Aziz (may Allah be easy with him) who<br \/>\n\tcanceled this order after more than half a century. Some historians even<br \/>\n\tbelieve that the Umayyah descendants themselves killed (poisoned) Umar Ibn<br \/>\n\tAbdil Aziz, because he changed their Sunnah, one of which was cursing Ali.<br \/>\n\t(<span style=\"color: #008000;\">See the Sunni book entitled &quot;History of the Saracens,&quot; by Amir Ali,<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Chapter X, pp 126-127).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">One of the ugliest innovations that started during the reign of Muawiyah<br \/>\n\twas that Muawiyah himself, and through his order to his Governors, they<br \/>\n\tused to insult Imam Ali (AS) during the Sermons in the Mosques. This was<br \/>\n\teven done on the pulpit of the mosque of the Prophet in Medina in front of<br \/>\n\tthe grave of the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah bless him and his Progeny),<br \/>\n\tso that even the dearest Companions of the Prophet (PBUH&amp;HF), and Imam Ali<br \/>\n\t(AS), his family and his near relatives used to hear these swears with<br \/>\n\ttheir ears.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni references :<br \/>\n\t&#8211; al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah, v8, p259; v9, p80<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">On insulting Ali Ibn Abi Talib and cursing him during the Umayah period<br \/>\n\tstarting in Muawiyah&#39;s reign, it is reported that:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">&quot;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ali Ibn Abi Talib (ra) was cursed on the pulpits (manabir) of the<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">east and west&#8230;<\/span>&quot;, during the time of Muawiyah.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni reference: <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Mu&#39;jam al-Buldan, al-Hamawi, v5, p38<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">In her letter, Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet (PBUH&amp;HF) wrote to<br \/>\n\tMuawiyah: &quot;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">You are cursing Allah and His messenger on your minbar,<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">and that is because you are cursing Ali Ibn Abi Talib and whomever<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">loves him, and I am a witness that Allah and His messenger loved him<\/span>.&quot;<br \/>\n\tBut no one paid any attention to what she said.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni reference: <span style=\"color: #008000;\">al-Aqd al-Fareed, v2, p300<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">&quot;That it was in the days of Bani Umayyah, more than seventy thousand<br \/>\n\tminbar (in mosques) upon which they cursed Ali Ibn Abi-Talib, in some<br \/>\n\tof what Muawiyah made a Sunnah for them.&quot;<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni references:<br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8211; Rabeea&#39; al-Abrar, al-Zamakhshari<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8211; al-Hafidh Jalaluddin al-Suyuti<\/span><br \/>\n\tal-Shaikh Ahmad al-Hafdhi al-Shafi&#39;i, composed 9 verses of poetry expanding<br \/>\n\ton what al-Suyuti has reported in the previous quote, I translated the<br \/>\n\tfirst three verses:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">And Shaikh al-Suyuti told:<br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">That it was what they made into a &quot;Sunnah&quot;.<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Seventy thousand mibar plus ten<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">from the top of which they cursed Haydara (Ali).<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">And next to this the greatest (sins) look small,<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">but blame ought to be directed.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Let us now see the opinion of the son of Yazid about his father and<br \/>\n\this grandfather, who was the witness from within the royal family!<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">&#8230;When (Yazid) offered the kingdom (throne) to his son, Muawiyah the<br \/>\n\tsecond, in order that the flag of caliphate continues to wave in the<br \/>\n\thouse of Abi Sufyan!!<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">After his death, Muawiyah the second, gathered the people on a well<br \/>\n\tknown day, he stood in them preaching, he said:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">&quot;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">My grandfather Muawiyah stripped the command from those who deserved<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">it, and from one who is more justified of it, for his relation to the<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Messenger of Allah and his being first in Islam, and that is Ali Ibn<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Abi Talib, he (Muawiyah) took over it by your help as you are fully<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">aware.&quot;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">&quot;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Then following it my father Yazid wore the command after him, and he<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">did not deserve it. And he who abuses<\/span><br \/>\n\t^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^<br \/>\n\tmy Ahlul-Bayt is verily an apostate and is driven out of Islam. And he<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">who inflicts pain on my progeny upon him is the curse of Allah. And he<br \/>\n\twho hurts me by hurting my progeny has verily hurt\/angered Allah.<br \/>\n\tCertainly Allah has made Paradise forbidden to he who does injustice<br \/>\n\tto my Ahlul-Bayt, or kills them, or assists against them, or abuses<br \/>\n\tthem.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">Sunni reference:<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> al-Sawa&#39;iq al-Muhriqah, by Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Ch. 11,<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #008000;\">p357 who said this tradition is authentic<\/span>.<br \/>\n\tAlso:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\">The Messenger of Allah said: &quot;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Whoever curses (or verbally abuses) Ali,<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">he has, in fact, cursed me, and whoever has cursed me, he has cursed<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Allah, and whoever has cursed Allah, then Allah will throw him into<\/span><br \/>\n\t<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">the Hell-fire.&quot;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia,serif;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Sunni reference: Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v6, p33<\/span><br \/>\n\tThus Muawiyah and his associates were, in fact, cursing the Prophet<br \/>\n\t(PBUH&amp;HF), and by cursing the Prophet, they were cursing Allah (SWT), and<br \/>\n\tby cursing Allah, they shall enter the hellfire! By Allah, they will be<br \/>\n\tasked to account for what they&#39;ve said!
